Adding the field and making it look like working is possible and quite quick. I understand you managed to do this now. Now you have to review if you need to adjust coding to have it working correctly at forms where you can choose to view more or less inventory dimensions and if the cost prices and recalculations are correct. Also check if reports like Inventory value are functioning correctly.
